Supporting Providers

If you’re a service provider who works with trans and gender questioning youth and/or their families, we are here to support you.

Working with trans and gender questioning young people and their families is important and rewarding. We know that strong bonds between youth and their parents/caregivers are the most significant factor in creating positive mental health outcomes for young people.

Social service and mental health providers need strong support networks and effective strategies to do this work. We need practice frameworks that allow us to confidently address common parental concerns and foster effective communication between caregivers and youth based on emotional safety and trust.

The FIT Facilitator Training and Community of Practice can provide you with practical tools and like-minded colleagues to engage with complex issues in this field.

Partnering with us

Become a FIT Partner

FIT Partners are organizations and community groups who have taken our 3-day FIT Facilitator Training and are working with us to develop their own unique programming for trans and gender questioning young folks. FIT offers consultation and co-mentorship to partners.

FIT Community of Practice

The FIT Community of Practice is open to any provider who has taken our 3-day FIT Facilitator Training. The Community of Practice meets once per month in a live online video call and facilitates opportunities for networking, professional development, collective care, and shared advocacy in our field. The Community of Practice is a great opportunity to make connections and share knowledge.

Run a FIT Group

Organizations, professionals, and community groups who take our 3-day FIT Facilitator training can host FIT groups for trans youth, their parents/caregivers, or both.

FIT groups are part of a national collaboration that share a curriculum and facilitation structure. They join our national program evaluation to help us keep learning how well FIT works and ways it can be even better.

Tending the Roots

Tending the Roots is a Community of Practice of service providers across Turtle Island that are seeking to improve the support of families of 2SLGBTQIA+ children and youth. We want to unite to pool resources and knowledge across groups and agencies to create, implement, and test promising interventions to support necessary changes inside families and across communities.
